Cooking Class FAQ
What is SoHo's Cancellation Policy?
All class seat purchases are non-refundable and non-transferable, much like a sporting event or theater ticket. This policy enables us to have a robust schedule, so please take careful note of the date & time of the class you register for, and if you are unable to attend at the last minute, feel free to give your seat/ticket to someone else.
However, if Southern Home & Kitchen finds it necessary to cancel for any reason (e.g. not enough participants or inclement weather) and advance notice is given, SoHo will either refund you or issue you store credit for the amount of your purchase.
What is included in the class fee?
The class fee includes instruction, printed recipes, and tasting portions of everything on the menu. There will be plenty to eat, so come hungry! Dinner classes also include up to 2 glasses of wine per participant, unless otherwise noted. Participants may not take home "leftovers" from the class (with the exception of our baking and canning classes), and no outside beverages or food may be brought into the class setting.
All class participants receive 10% off any purchases made in store on the day of their class.
How do I register for a cooking class?
You can register online, in store, or over the phone - (336) 777-3660.
What should I wear to class?
We recommend comfortable clothes and shoes, and perhaps layers since things can heat up in the kitchen! We’ll provide aprons for all participation classes.
I have a group of six or more people. May we take the class together?
Yes! However, given the limited space and popularity of our classes, we may not always have the space available. Booking early is one option. Another option is to consider a private cooking experience; please contact us for more information about creating a custom cooking experience for your group or team - (336) 777-3660.
How many people are in each cooking class?
The class size will vary from 6-12 participants, though usually we cap our number at 10.
Do you have age requirements for your cooking classes?
Unless noted in the class description, anyone under 18 is welcome attend a class with an adult. Two seats will need to be purchased to do so. For hands-on classes, participants will be using heating elements and sharp cooking utensils, and should be tall enough to comfortably reach counter and stovetops to get the full class experience. If you ever have questions, please call us and we can help you determine if the class is the right fit.
Do you offer cooking classes specifically for kids or teens?
Currently we only offer kid cooking camps in the summer. Please check the cooking camp tab for more information.
Can I register someone for a class as a gift?
Yes, you are welcome to sign up someone else for a class as a gift, though a SoHo gift card is the best way to give classes as gifts. This allows your recipient(s) to select classes that best suit their schedules and interests. Gift cards are available in any amount and can be purchased by visiting or calling our retail location. We will happily mail your gift card to you or the recipient!
Can you accommodate special dietary needs?
You are welcome to eat around parts of the menu, but unfortunately, we are unable to make singular adjustments to the recipes in our public classes. We do, however, offer many classes each month that suit various dietary restrictions such as vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free or shellfish allergies. Please contact us for assistance in finding the right class!
